In Response To: The destruction of the Victoria SPCA wildlife ARC (an ex-ARC volunteer)

My understanding was that head office staff at the BCSPCA was initially quite upset with the Victoria SPCA for creating Wild ARC in the first place. Employees at head office told me the project was a branch project which had little, if any input or consultation with head office. This, compounded with the fact Victoria SPCA allegedly had 5+ million in the bank while other smaller SPCA branches were experiencing a negative cash flow created an extremely tense relationship between the Victoria SPCA and head office. This was the scenario a few years back. I personally think the decision to expand volunteer participation was not entirely based on the needs of the animals but to also have an impact on the union. Although they had very little to do with the ARC becoming a reality, head office continues to promote Wild ARC as it brings in donations. The fact they're now killing animals which have been rescued and taken to them for rehab should be documented and taken to the media.
