Pat, you're absolutely right, that is why I have been so careful for years to not repeat praise about any SPCA branch. So many volunteers are absolutley incapable of putting two and two together. They will even go to council meetings and hotly defend their local SPCA, even after they've been there for years. They just have never figured out the game.

But I have heard only good about the Nanaimo SPCA for years and from so many sources that I am taking a chance. Same for the Powell River SPCA. I really can't say that I have not heard ill of any other SPCA branch, unfortunately. Most of the complaints are about prison guard mentality employees, animals suffering unattended in SPCA cells, dirty premises, and animals "mysteriously" disappearing.
