Letter to send to Premier Campbell and Environment Minister Penner
You might think that here, the bears could live and thrive in peace. But trophy hunters have set their sights on the vulnerable animals, shooting them with rifles and crossbows for entertainment.
If the trophy hunters get their way, we may one day have a Great Bear Rainforest without bears.
For cultural and ethical reasons, First Nations groups have long opposed the killing of bears — and their communities can earn far more from responsible bear-watching ecotourism than destructive bear hunting.
Please stand with First Nations groups to protect the bears. Tell Premier Campbell to ban the trophy hunting of bears throughout the Great Bear Rainforest and BC Coast.
TAKE ACTION
Write to Premier Gordon Campbell and let him know that you are opposed to the trophy hunting of bears on the BC Coast and that he should support First Nations and British Columbians and end the hunt. A copy of your letter will be sent to the Minister of the Environment, Barry Penner.
