Ingrid Rustad of Nanaimo is responsible for breeding Loki, the African Serval cat who was stolen in Surrey last week. Now that Loki has been turned in, the SPCA doesn't know what to do with him, and no sanctuary can take him because Rustad had the cat declawed so he has no way of defending himself.
It's hard enough trying to find suitable homes for the many thousands of abandoned cats and dogs, without adding potentially dangerous exotic breeds to the mix. The only responsible thing that Rustad could do, is to offer Loki his forever home with her, an experienced Serval care giver, until he lives out his natural life. And the only responsible thing that our governments could do, is to ban the trade of exotic pets. So far, neither Rustad nor the government have stepped up to the plate.
