Rescue groups are being denied the chance to rehabilitate and rehome dogs from the Prince George SPCA and any other SPCAs that still have not received instruction in the SPCA's latest spurious dog assessment test, DTA 4.
It is no more "scientific" than the previous test. There is still no published data and dogs that are rehabilitatable are still being killed and dogs that are dangerous are still being sold.
Rescuers everywhere are going to have to do what Delta SPCA staff and volunteers did for Cheech. As long as the SPCA needs to dispose of a lot of unsellable product, it needs a "sorting tool" to sort the animals that sell quickly and easily from those that will take money to make sellable. That is what tests are for.
God only knows what the spurious criteria for disposing of the thousands of excess cats the SPCA accepts delivery of. There is no "test" for cats, but there is plenty of disease in every SPCA that soon makes cats sick and then they can be killed for "health" reasons.
The SPCA says it no longer kills for space. Those two reasons - behaviour and health - are what the SPCA tells the public are the only reasons it kills animals for. But those two cover everything...and they certainly do free up space.
