From the Surrey Leader, Oct. 8/04:
"BC SPCA spokesperson Lorie Chortyk said many healthy and highly adoptable puppies, kittens and other potential pets are euthanized each year because shelters in remote communities are often full to capacity and do not have a large enough population to provide homes for them. They are overwhelmed by the number of animals being surrendered and abandoned."
That's terrible. But Lorie, what has happened? On May 11, 2001, you told the South Delta Leader:
"Last year we received 24,156 dogs and we placed 99 per cent of them."
Oh those pesky stats!
