Wild turkey hunt would be a feast for B.C.
Vancouver Province

An open season on wild turkeys in B.C. would be an excellent opportunity, provided the population can handle the pressure.
I won a draw for a turkey permit in the early 1990s in the Creston area. And, in harvesting one, I had a wonderful time sightseeing in the Creston Valley.
This will bring many hunters and dollars into the Kootenays, and will be a positive thing, provided hunters ask for permission to hunt on private land and don't act like trigger-happy fools.
I'd also like to correct the myth that wild turkeys are clumsy and gawky.
They are a deer with two feet and wings. Their drawback is they can't smell you downwind.
Anyone who eats commercially raised meat and opposes killing a turkey in the wild doesn't have a drumstick to stand on.
