Subject: Rescue Approval, and what this means to us
Dear Mr Busch,
I sent this letter out to many of the managers of the SPCA but I missed many, as e-mails could not be found. Some went to volunteers by accident as theirs were all I could find on Petfinder.
Please will you forward this e-mail to ALL the managers and CC me on it.
Thank you.

Dear SPCA Managers/Directors,
Earlier this year, CSRBC Cocker Spaniel Rescue underwent a bit of scrutiny by the BCSPCA in order to be an "approved" rescue.
I spent quite a bit of time getting all the information together that was needed for this process which originated from Kim Archibald's office in Surrey. Once the information was submitted to Ms. Archibald, I did receive an e-mail from her approving our rescue.
I had assumed, and correct me if I am wrong, that this approval was to be province wide.
What this approval means to us is:
-if an owner calls to surrender their cocker spaniel, CSRBC's phone number will be given to this owner to prevent the dog from coming into the shelter.
- if a stray or a surrender comes into the shelter, regardless of condition, CSRBC will be notified.
- CSRBC will be given 48 hours to accept this dog into their rescue. If the dog is declined, for what ever reason, the dog will stay in the SPCA.
Recently something went wrong. A dog slipped through the cracks and was adopted out to a member of the public, not only without our being made aware of his presence but before the dog could be seen by a vet.
I am sending this e-mail out to as many SPCA managers as I can to inform you all that CSRBC is an approved rescue. We are a registered Canadian Charity and we have been in existence for almost 5 years.
When a Cocker Spaniel, or a dog that very closely resembles a Cocker Spaniel, comes into your shelter or if an owner calls to surrender, we fully expect to be contacted either via e-mail or by phone, about the dog.
I understand that with some breeds, due to their complex problems, rescue is contacted immediately. Cocker Spaniels in shelters have complex problems...all of them. They range from mild to severe medical conditions to psychological/behaviour conditions. The BCSPCA is not set up to handle these types of dogs. We are. We have the expertise, and breed experience to assist these dogs to become loving healthy companions. Many times these dogs are fostered for up to 6 months in order to reach our goals with them.
Please, do not let another Cocker Spaniel slip through the cracks. Please contact us so we can help free up a kennel at your shelter for a dog that has no rescue waiting for him or her.
Thank you for your time.
