I agree that all dogs should be licenced or have ID tags, however not everyone (us included) even thinks that if you lose your dog and it doesn't have proper ID would cause it to be put down by the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) 3 days before it should be. I would also like to add that the man that found our dog on new years eve had no where to take her until the Saturday, so he kept her at his home, and then when he took her to the vet on Saturday morning he was told that even though he would have liked to keep her that he had to sign her over to the SPCA. Also my husband contacted the SPCA on Saturday morning and was assured that Maggie was safe at the vet and that we could pick her up on Monday when they opened. I have also been in constant contact with Mark Tahkar from the SPCA and even he has said that this is NO fault of ours. So yes we were wrong in not having our puppy properly Identified, but to blame us for the loss of her is completely wrong.

SPCA had dog destroyed before owners could claim her

I have had way too many encounters with the SPCA where the animal was treated just the opposite of what the SPCA stands for
Even after six months on the job, SPCA Manager didn't know the basic 96 hours rule *LINK* *PIC*
It is 2009, and the SPCA is only now thinking that a Communications Book should be in place?
This practice may be more prevalent than the public realizes
Are these the actions of an animal welfarist or an animal controller?
Is "shaking" on the SPCA's list of reasons it can kill an animal while still claiming not to kill any "adoptable" animals
