The case has occurred that an animal in the stray section was identified by description and tattoo by the parent over the phone. Due to the individual’s work schedule the animal’s parent arrived 30 minutes past visiting hours and was not allowed to take the animal home that evening. Such blind adherence to procedure serves no useful purpose, d
to put the animal and the owner through such unnecessary suffering is inexcusable. The reason given as to why the person was not allowed to pick up the animal, was “added risk”. What ever risk that may be, the risk of harm to the animal during its prolonged stay at the shelter is certainly greater.
