[The SPCA's] inference of a decomposing corpse on the premises is that the rescue somehow caused the demise of the cat through abuse or neglect. This is NOT the case. This shelter made a point of taking in cats with FIV and distemper, most often fatal diseases so obviously they're going to find animals in 'serious distress'.. Symptoms include dehydration and emaciation. Even with isolation and excellent care, daily deaths can be expected.
I have no idea of the circumstances that led to the ONE body being found in that state -- maybe it was recently discovered, maybe a volunteer couldn't be found to dispose of it, who knows. Bad housekeeping? Maybe. But it does not prove or even infer animal abuse.
