The then board of directors had a no kill policy, which meant that there was severe overcrowding. I believe there was something like 60 dogs in a shelter meant to hold 24. The staff had asked for more help, like a manager to oversee staff, more staff as many employees had quit, and help with foster program. Members were concerned as the then board of directors were not doing any fundraising, and other concerns were the lack of special constables. At that time there were only two part time special constables, now in the present there are NONE. The branch had , if I remember, six pound contracts for different areas of the Regional District, and municipalities, and the lack of staff was putting the contracts at risk. I am happy to say, that today this branch is no longer in the animal control buisness.
