She owns three open dogs and plans to breed her German Shepherd bitch on her next heat. I call that a definite conflict of interest at a shelter that requires spay or neuter of every dog before it leaves (unless it is too young).
Why is it that people who do not advocate spay/neuter or do their part to control the pet population end up in power positions such as hers?? Why do people like her that don't even know the meaning of positive training are running the pound??? You would think that with the pound being a public service the city would have been more careful who they put in her position as a represenatative for them.
Should the general, uneducated public learn from her that the use of choke chains and prong collars are acceptable training tools and that keeping unaltered dogs and breeding them for pets is OK? She is essentially a back yard breeder herself. She does not show her dog, She uses her for Shutzhound (sp) which in itself is not taught using positive methods. In my opinion the dog isn't even of sound temperament and should not be used for breeding puposes anyway!!!
Has AAS questioned the city or at least her in any of these matters if so I as a tax paying member of this city would like to hear the answers.
